POSITION SUMMARY – As a member of the documentation department, the successful candidate will produce documentation for third-party developers who use the BlackBerry Java Development Environment to create wireless enterprise applications. He or she will work closely with cross-functional project teams to deliver high-quality documentation with minimal supervision. Additional responsibilities can include participating in department initiatives to improve documentation quality and process, and providing input into product design and usability.
 
Qualifications

  • Related post-secondary education (computer science or math and professional writing)
  • 4  years experience in the field of technical communication
  • Experience writing developer documentation for software development kits (SDKs)
  • Demonstrated ability to work on complex, technical projects with tight deadlines
  • Excellent planning, research, and writing skills
  • Working knowledge of Java(TM); knowledge of Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) is an asset
  • Familiarity with mobile communications networks
  • Solid understanding of the software development process
     
    ASSETS:
  • Working knowledge of enterprise programming (J2EE or .NET)
  • Experience producing or updating generated API Reference documentation
  • Experience developing Java sample applications or sample code snippets
  • Familiarity with corporate IT systems, such as web servers and relational databases
  • Knowledge of network security and cryptography
  • Proficiency with authoring tools, such as Blast Radius XMetal
  • Knowledge of structured writing and the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA)
  • Experience with HTML and XML
