Position Description
- Improve consistency and quality of existing documents that are used by customers.
- Assure excellent usability of these documents by customers and Accuray personnel.
- Restructure documents (both US and international) to assure easier maintenance.
- Guide Accuray in the use of innovative document creation and distribution strategies.
- Become an expert/owner on products assigned, using a hands-on approach.
Specific tasks or functions:
- Consolidate and rewrite existing customer product documentation. For example, revise and combine existing User Guides and contribute to developing a Reference Guide.
- Assure consistency of user guides, software screens, software release notes, training, installation and maintenance manuals, web content, etc.
- Improve document/file structure, e.g. with a coordinated publishing or document management system; replace Word documents with other formats.
- Investigate and recommend improved publishing and distribution strategies for customer product documentation.
- As necessary, write/implement the above as an individual contributor or by coordinating the review and input of others. Coordinate with external resources as necessary. Conduct interviews with various staff to gather data for documentation
- As appropriate write new “technical” documents and provide assistance to other departments needing technical writing support.
- Produce and release product support materials and process changes to technical documents.
- Coordinate international translations.
Position Requirements
- BS/BA in English, Communications, Business, Engineering, or related field is required (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on, demonstrated experience in technical writing specifically in a medical device environment for clinical and other users.
- Must have hands-on experience with information/data gathering and a track record of working with multiple subject matter experts and data sources.
- Must be detail oriented and able to work with strict deadlines.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills required in order to produce concise and accurate documents.
- Advanced skills with these typical programs are required: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Paint, and Power Point; Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator; and various HTML programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and document key functions of the TeraPIX Video Processor. The primary role of this position will be to interface with key members of our technical staff to understand the major functions of the device and present them in a customer friendly but highly technical document. This document is the primary reference for our customers during their development cycle.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Curriculum Development
Design and develop instructor led and media based training for customers, employees, and partners. This position will own the overall curriculum development process, and create training for different product areas, working in partnership with product management, product development, and product marketing.
Technical Writing
Strong technical / requirements / specifications documentation writer with experience in writing product specifications and requirements documents for web products. Ability to identify and gather information from marketing, product, business and IT experts as needed to define requirements and develop the functional specification for web application. Strong analytical skills, including Data Analysis. Excellent ability to gather and articulate business and product requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- General knowledge of systems and information architecture standards and principles
- Ability to proactively engage engineers, product experts, and marketing managers to determine key information elements
- Design and develop instructionally and technically sound training materials for instructor led and media based training
- Design and develop all components of training materials, including PowerPoint slides, course notes/manuals, exercises, instructor demonstrations, instructor notes, classroom image, and setup files
- Project manage all aspects of the courseware development process, including communicating regularly with content review team, product management, product development and other relevant groups within eHealth
- Seek customer feedback and continuously improve the quality of courses and documentation developed
RESPONSIBILITIES
- BA/BS in a technical or quantitative field
- 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a consumer-oriented Internet company
- Exceptional oral, written, editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational, project management, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills – must be able to work multiple projects simultaneously in deadline-driven environment
- Proficient Microsoft Office
- Advanced working knowledge of Internet research to perform both generic and specific research
- Web-savvy: understanding of HTML, Web servers, and Internet protocols
- Familiarity with Internet applications
- Experience with direct customer interaction
